  • 02.03.2017: The grades for the examination are published. If you want to have a look at your examination, please come to office 2.114 of the Institute of Computer Science in Goettingen on March 9th, 2017 between 09:00am and 11:00am.
  • 30.01.2017: The ISTQB Certified Tester examination will take place on Monday 27.02.2017, 02:00pm sharp.
  • 04.11.2016: The examination will take place on Monday 20.02.2017, 02:00pm sharp in room MN15, Geowissenschaften und Geographie, Goldschmidtstraße 1 (http://www.geodata.uni-goettingen.de/geoplan/?ident=2409_1_EG_0.110).  
  • 13.10.2016: The introduction session will take place at 17.10.2016, 2:00pm c.t.

Contents

The course imparts basic and extended knowledge in the context of Software-Testing. This covers the following aspects:

  • terminology
  • V-Model
  • black-box testing
  • white-box testing
  • static testing
  • dynamic testing
  • software metrics
  • test tools
  • test management

Course Structure

The course is offered in an inverted class room manner. The students will be provided with lecture material including slides, videos, and exercises. Afterwards, the students are asked to prepare the contents of the course self-responsibly. In the exercise slots, the topics will then be intensified. The attendance in the exercise slots taking place on Mondays, 14:00 - 16:00, is mandatory.
The first exercise slot will be used as introduction session. In this session, all required information will be provided. This will cover information about where to get required credentials and locations of the materials. We urge you to attend the introduction session. You can attend either physically or via the web access (see below).

Requirements

This course targets advanced students. We recommend knowledge at least equivalent to the lecture Software-Engineering 1 as well as basic knowledge about programming.

Registration

For the course, no registration is required.

There is no lecture for the course as the students prepare the topics on their own (see course structure above).
The introduction session and the exercises are available via an interactive live stream under https://webconf.vc.dfn.de/software-testing-goe/. Please login as guest. For the live stream, no registration is required. Please try out accessing the virtual room before the first session. In case of problems, please contact Patrick Harms.

Course Materials

Please note: the material will be not available before the introduction session.
The course materials consist of a week plan, slides, videos, learn control questions, and exercises. Except the video material, everything will be provided on this web page, i.e., the web page you are currently looking at. The material will only be visible if you login at the bottom of this page. The credentials for the login will be provided in the introduction session. If you have any questions, please contact Patrick Harms.
The video material will be accessible via a dedicated system. The system will be available under the following URL: http://opencast.informatik.uni-goettingen.de/. The credentials for the system must be requested via e-mail from Patrick Harms.

Examination

Will be announced during the exercises.

Certified Tester

We plan to offer the opportunity to take the test for the Certified Tester (Foundation Level) of the International Software Quality Institute (iSQI) at the end of the term. Further details can be found here and will be announced during the introductional session and the exercises.
