Research Assistant

The successful applicant will be remunerated according to TV-L 13 and given a 3-year contract. The working time is currently 50 % of regular working time (19.9 hours per week).
Your duties

  • You work in a joint research project with the University Greifswald on the advancement of the tool AUGUSTUS which is used to annotate genomes.
  • Conducting scientific research in the area of software quality insurance, particularly software making use of machine learning.

Your profile

  • A very good M.Sc. (or equivalent) degree in computer science or a related discipline.
  • Strong programming skills, especially in C++ as well as experience in software engineering. Additional experience in the areas of multiprocessing, software tests, debian packaging, windows installer, DevOps technologies and machine learning are an advantage.
  • You previously worked in bioinformatics or have an interest in working with biological data.
  • A very good command of the English and German languages.
  • You are committed and enjoy scientific work in a team.

This position should be used to further qualify young academics and provides an opportunity to pursue a PhD. An increase of the working time to 100 % (39.8 hours per week) is aspired.

Student assistant for web development

We are currently looking for a student assistant for the further development of our website.
Required is basic knowledge of:

  • Web-programing (HTML, PHP, MySQL, XML, Apache)
  • Content-management systems (knowledge of Drupal in particular will be very beneficial)

The initial contract is for 3 months. Further details, such as workload, working location, and possible extension, will be discussed individually with prospective applicants.
