  • 21.02.2014: For all students, who have not passed the exam, we offer an oral reexamination in the week from 14.04. to 17.04.2014. If you want to do this reexamination, please send me a day and a time in that week until the end of next week.
  • 18.02.2014: The results of the examination are online. Please login to download them. You have the opportunity to take a look at your examination on the 27.02.2014, 09:00am - noon, in room 2.114 here in our institute.
  • 05.02.2014: Reminder for the examination: 17. February 2014, 02:00pm (14:00), room 2.101, Institute of Computer Science. Please be there latest 15 minutes earlier.
  • 03.02.2014: The examination for the ISTQB Certified Tester Foundation Level will take place on 31.03.2014, 02:00 (14:00) s.t. in room -1.101 in our institute. Please register for participation by writing an appropriate mail to Patrick Harms latest until 15.03.2014.

Please note that the second task of exercise 7 is for two students: One that identifies the equivalence classes, the other that performs the boundary value analysis and test case derivation based on the results of the first. If the tasks are not selected voluntarily, we will assign them.

Course Details

Contents

The course imparts basic and extended knowledge in the context of Software-Testing. This covers the following aspects:

  • terminology
  • V-Model
  • black-box testing
  • white-box testing
  • static testing
  • dynamic testing
  • software metrics
  • test tools
  • test management

Course Structure

The course is divided into lectures and practical exercises. The lecture provides the theoretical parts. In the exercise, the students are asked to solve practical tasks. Each student has to present at least one solution to the other students. Furthermore, there are several exercises which require attendance by all students and are, therefore, mandatory for all students.

Requirements

This course targets advanced students. We recommend knowledge at least equivalent to the lecture Software-Engineering 1 as well as basic knowledge about programming.

Registration

For the lecture, no registration is required. The exercise requires a registration of all students till Wednesday, Oct. 30th. Registration is performed via an email to Patrick Harms. Please indicate your place of studies (e.g., Göttingen or Clausthal) and your course of studies (e.g., Applied Computer Science or ITIS). Participation in the exercise is a requirement for the examination! Details will be announced during the first lecture.

The course is provided via live stream under https://webconf.vc.dfn.de/software-testing-goe/. Please login as guest. For the live stream, no registration is required. Please try out accessing the room before the first lecture. In case of problems, please contact Patrick Harms.

Certified Tester

We plan to offer the opportunity to take the test for the Certified Tester (Foundation Level) of the International Software Quality Institute (iSQI) at the end of the term. Further details will be announced during the lecture.
