Office relocations and new group member

27.04.2015
With the beginning of May, our group will get a new member. Ella Albrecht will join us and work on a platform for online teaching and exercise submissions in the computer science bachelor studies at our institute. Due to this, some of our group members move to other offices. The new office numbers are already given on the website. The relocation will take place in the next days causing a bit trouble on our floor. We are sorry for any inconvenience.

Article accepted for the Journal of Medical Internet Research

Presentation on "The Cisco Networking Academy"

20.04.2015

On Monday April 20th, 2015, there will be a presentation on "The Cisco Networking Academy" by Johannes Schulz and Carsten Johnsen of the Cisco Systems GmbH. The abstract of the talk is as follows:
Cisco supports the learning and teaching at university level and for vocational education and training since 1997. The objectives are to fight a skills shortage in the IT industry, support countries to improve their competitiveness and helping the individual participant to improve employability. The cornerstone of the Cisco Networking Academy Program is a learning platform that is used to deliver several courses around the topics of networking; operating systems and the Internet of Everything. The global academic partnership is constructed as a public-private partnership between Cisco and a network of government agencies, and 10,000 academies in schools, universities and adult education institutions. The use of the Cisco learning material is free of charge for universities and students.
Courses are delivered through a cloud-based collaboration platform with an emphasis on handson learning and career preparation for a growing number of networking technology jobs. NetAcad courses reach 1 million students each year. 5 million students have completed courses since 1997. The statistics for Germany: 35,000 students per year and 185.000 since inception. The flagship course is preparing students to pass an external certification test to reach the industry standard CCNA = Cisco Certified Network Associate. It can be used to support an overview lecture with additional online learning material, simulation and lab activities. The combination of a university degree with vendor backed certifications improves the career opportunities of every individual student.
During the lecture the structure and course content will be explained in more detail. Students will be able to participate in courses of the Networking Academy in the future. The prerequisite is that the University Goettingen makes the decision to join the partner network.

International Summer School on Intensive Automated Testing of Service Oriented Architectures

15.04.2015

July 6-8, 2015 - Paris, France
http://soatestingschool.lip6.fr
Today, Service Oriented Architectures tend to be the standard way to elaborate information systems in enterprises. These systems grow rapidly, due to increasing needs of big-data management and to the increasing strength at a decreasing cost of modern computers. Testing of such systems becomes a challenge due to their complexity. To handle this, testing of service oriented systems must be simplified, intelligent, automated and routinized.
The International Summer School on Intensive Automated Testing of Service Oriented Architectures is intended for people willing to learn about the most advanced techniques for quality assurance of Service Oriented Architectures (SOA). It is provided by a group of researchers and industry people experienced with SOA testing and who joined their effort in the MIDAS European project, dedicated to this purpose. In the summer school, this group will teach you the latest innovative techniques enabling you to perform automated and intensive testing of Service Oriented Architectures. You will learn how to generate a consisten set of tests for such systems and to execute these tests in the cloud.
